2/6/2020 - 16/6/2020 / Week 8 - Week 10 Lim He Yu (0340423) Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising) / Design Principles Project 2: Sense of Place Any medium  Task  In this project, we were instructed to create an artwork that expresses how we see the things/places around us. Like project 1, we're required to apply the design principles we have learned throughout the semester.   Idea Exploration  For the initial ideas, I was inspired by the Bauhaus movement, and I wanted to incorporate historical buildings from my hometown, which is Penang, into the artwork. The rationale for this was to bring something old to "life", by combining the old buildings and modern design elements to create something new. You can take a look at the reference I found below. Typography - Project 2B

17/6/2020 - 17/7/2020 / Week 10 - Week 14 Lim He Yu (0340423) Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising) / Typography Project 2B: Typography- Expression, Hierarchy and Composition   Lectures  Week 10 (Introduction and Briefing) This week we were briefed on the second part of project 2, which was to design an A3 poster with the tagline of our liking. After that, we were instructed to express the tagline through type expression. Finally, we had to animate the overall design. Before jumping into the process of designing, we had to come up with three taglines to be used in our design.  Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul gave us advice and feedback for our progress of our blogs as well. Typography - Project 2A

29/5/2020 - 12/6/2020 / Week 7 - Week 9 Lim He Yu (0340423) Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising) / Typography Project 2A: Font Design  Lectures  Week 7 (Introduction and Briefing) This week we were briefed on the first part of Project 2, which is font design. We were tasked to design a new typeface with the letters " a i m e p y t g d o b ! , . ", using Adobe Illustrator and Font Lab to generate the typeface. Apart from that, we watched a video about creating typefaces from AIGA, which was really helpful as it explained the basics of designing a typeface. We were told to dissect and analyze a typeface, then draw at least 3 sketches of our font designs before digitizing the work.  Mr.Vinod also explained what we needed to know when it comes to designing a font.
