Like project 1, we're required to apply the design principles we have learned throughout the semester.   Idea Exploration  For the initial ideas, I was inspired by the Bauhaus movement, and I wanted to incorporate historical buildings from my hometown, which is Penang, into the artwork. The rationale for this was to bring something old to "life", by combining the old buildings and modern design elements to create something new. You can take a look at the reference I found below. Project 1: Self Portrait

19/5/2020 - 2/6/2020 / Week 6 - Week 8 Lim He Yu (0340423) Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising) / Design Principles Project 1: Self-Portrait Any medium  Task  In this project, we were instructed to create a self portrait in any medium. The self-portrait has to reflect our life experiences, culture and so on, basically the things that define us. Apart from that, we have to apply the design principles we have learnt throughout the first five weeks of the semester.   Idea Exploration  The first idea was to illustrate myself in Illustrator, using dry brushes. This idea didn't have much depth to it, it's just something that I've always wanted to do. So, I thought now is a good time to put my words into action. Take a look at the references below. 17/6/2020 - 17/7/2020 / Week 10 - Week 14 Lim He Yu (0340423) Bachelor of Mass Communication (Advertising) / Typography Project 2B: Typography- Expression, Hierarchy and Composition   Lectures  Week 10 (Introduction and Briefing) This week we were briefed on the second part of project 2, which was to design an A3 poster with the tagline of our liking. After that, we were instructed to express the tagline through type expression. Finally, we had to animate the overall design. Before jumping into the process of designing, we had to come up with three taglines to be used in our design.  Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul gave us advice and feedback for our progress of our blogs as well. The term translates to "light-dark"; chiaro meaning bright or clear and scuro meaning dark or obscure. After that, using the information from the analysis, we're required to design something new inspired by the chosen artwork.
